Giving New Parents a Healthy Start @ NYCHA

Just a day before Father’s Day, Healthy Start @ NYCHA hosted a Resource Fair and Citywide Baby Shower at the Melrose Classic Community Center in the Bronx. The family-friendly event brought together growing NYCHA families from four boroughs and connected them with resources, education, and baby essentials.

Over 260 attendees took home donations of diapers and other baby essentials from Baby2Baby, Little Essentials, and ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵMammas Give Back. Various resources were also distributed by 25 tabling vendors, including from NYCHA’s Resident Economic Empowerment and Sustainability, Safety and Security, and lead safety teams, as well as the Day Care Council of New York, ACS Infant Safe Sleep Unit, NYCBenefits, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵHealth Department Bureau of Early Intervention, Bronx Healthy Start Program, MetroPlusHealth, Harlem Hospital, Wise Womb Foundation, and more. The many fathers in attendance received special Father’s Day gifts, and attendees were offered workshops on breastfeeding by Supporting Our Mothers Initiative, LLC, and on infant CPR by Heart Alive Medical and Training.

The Healthy Start @ NYCHA program creates safer homes and connections to resources for expecting families. Want info on future events and opportunities? Let NYCHA know if you or a member of your household is expecting through the .
