Sage, Thyme, and Rosemary for NYCHA Residents

Five hundred older adult ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ in the Bronx and Manhattan recently received free herb plants and nutrition gift bags from the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵDepartment for the Aging (DFTA) as part of the agency’s ongoing work to help older New Yorkers stay healthy, socially engaged, and connected.

The plants, part of an initiative carried out in partnership with NYCHA, were distributed on September 17 at Bronx River, Jackson, and Morrisania Houses in the Bronx and at LaGuardia and UPACA 5 and 6 Houses in Manhattan. Each resident was gifted a rosemary, sage, or thyme herb plant and a gift bag with nutrition education and gardening items. Residents will also be provided nutrition education virtual workshops in late September on gardening tips, healthy meal preparation, and general nutrition.
