Ukah Busgith Is Retiring From NYCHA
After more than 34 years of service to Ƶ, Ukah Busgith, Executive Vice President for Resident Services, Partnerships, and Initiatives (RSPI), will retire on July 1.
Ms. Busgith began her NYCHA career as a Community Assistant at Pink Houses. She has held various positions across the Authority, with experience in both direct service and management. She was appointed Executive Vice President of RSPI in 2022; in this role, Ms. Busgith oversees more than 250 employees dedicated to connecting residents to vital services and resources, managing partnerships across the city, and supporting NYCHA’s resident associations and resident leaders.
Colleagues and residents acknowledge Ms. Busgith’s accessibility, deep institutional knowledge, and commitment to resident engagement. Many residents know they can call her directly, and she consistently makes herself available to address their needs. Her ability to build trusted relationships with residents and resident leaders, community-based organizations, and City agencies help advance NYCHA’s mission in meaningful ways. Ms. Busgith’s contributions will leave a lasting mark on the Authority and the communities she served.
Reflecting on her time at NYCHA, Ms. Busgith said: “Early in my career, I learned that my greatest responsibility is to be of selfless service to the residents of NYCHA. What is NYCHA without the residents, and how do you serve efficiently without establishing strong connections? Throughout the years, I have focused on opportunities to establish strong partnership teams to accomplish that goal. And therefore, I leave NYCHA and RSPI with a heavy heart; however, my wish is that the Authority will continue to build on what I started to push NYCHA forward.”
